Home Fur the Holidays 2010

On Saturday, December 11, Ian and I will be joining many other Vermont pet care companies at Play Dog Play on Pine Street in Burlington. Last year’s event was a great shopping day for pet lovers and 20% of the proceeds went to the Humane Society of Chittenden County. This year we’re upping our donation to 25% of all proceeds! Once again I’m offering mini portrait sessions for your pups from 10am to 4pm. I have added an additional background option as well as more props to give you more options to suit your taste. From a cozy, simple scene with a hint of the holidays to a full out Christmas portrait complete with Santa hat, there’s plenty to choose from. New this year I’m also offering the ability to pre-pay and book a time for your session through my online store. I’ll have a link and details below for that.

To be able to get great portraits of your dog they should be brushed out and free of major dirt clumps or mats. They also need to be dry. Don’t just assume that I will “Photoshop it out”. Saying that to me is a good way to get on my nerves fast. Eye goobers and stray hairs are one thing. Crusty faces and muddy paws can easily be cleaned up before the shoot. If you’re bringing your dog in for a bath, I recommend doing so well before their shoot and making sure they are thoroughly dry, or waiting until after their shoot. I’ll have clean towels for last minute eye goobers and drool and a few brushes for a touch up.

I hope to see many of these adorable faces again! All of these portraits were made at last year’s event. The pace was hectic with almost 30 dogs posing for me in 6 hours.

Rosie and her owners were ready for her session as soon as the doors opened!

You may remember this face from her fall foliage blog post... it's Smudgy! Her sister, Olive, is featured below.

I'm sure I'll see Mowgli and Yoshi again this year with their new sister!

Ok, on to my first setup with the new backdrop and props, using my own pack as models. It’s probably pretty obvious that they spend more time in front of the camera than they’d really like to, hehe.

Logan wasn't too sure about my ideas at first...

But, he came around. As did Meeko. Treats are good motivators for sure.

The girls were slightly less humiliated, only because JB is too tiny to wear the Santa hat and Maple didn't appreciate having her ears smooshed together.

Jackson hasn't really changed much in a year, except for more crinkly ear hair. I guess he figures that pose works, so why change it? The portrait on the right was made last year around his 1st birthday.

Dorie is seen here with JB showing a potential scene for someone with 2 small dogs. We only have 1 small dog, so we had to use a pudgy kitty instead :)

Dorie took over the shoot for a while. She can't resist modeling and when she saw the lights go up she invited herself in. I couldn't resist posting these... she's just so cute!

Don

Don't worry, if you really love the little chair but have a big dog, we'll make it work! *Disclaimer: Your big dog's excitement will probably equal Jackson's.

HFtH_Packages_MountainDog

This year I’m offering packages to offer a better value and make your choice easier. The most flexible option is the Mutt and Double Mutt. You only pay for the sitting up front and order exactly what you want through a secure online gallery, which will be posted the day after the event. You will need to order ASAP to ensure holiday delivery. If you choose the Labrador, Double Lab, Great Dane, or Double Dane package your prints will be shipped on Monday December 13. I will choose the cutest portrait and create the prints right away. I guarantee you’ll LOVE your prints! Let me know if you need special arrangements if these portraits are going to be a surprise for someone in your household. We can arrange a pick up location or sneaky packaging.

I’m offering 12 spaces on the hour and half hour for appointments. Signing up now ensures that I’ll be able to photograph your dogs, will get you bumped to the front of the line, and gets you an extra goodie! I’ll add an extra 5×7 to your order at no charge… two 5×7′s if you choose a Double package:)Simply make a note of the package you’d like and sign up HERE! I accept MC, Visa, and Discover and payment must be made at the time you sign up otherwise your spot is not secure. If you don’t want a specific appointment you can still pay for a package now to save time at the event. I will be accepting cash, checks, and credit cards at Home Fur the Holidays.

Phew! I think that’s everything I needed to say. As always, give me a call or email me with questions.

Peace and Jinglebells,

~Kelly
