Olive and Smudgy :: South Burlington, Vermont Dog Photographer

I first met Olive and Smudgy at Home Fur the Holidays last year. They were both amazing models and I was very excited when their mom, Megan, told me that she wanted another session. She couldn’t decide between studio shots or fall foliage, so I said we could do both. We started out at Megan and Jason’s home with the little studio setup. Olive and Smudgy took to it like it had been there their whole lives. After a few individual portraits the girls posed together and proceeded to one-up each other in cuteness. They’re such a funny pair of pugs! The weather held out for the second half of the session-just barely. As we travelled to the first location a few sprinkles had us all a little worried. Fortunately the rain let up and the light was very flattering for people, pugs, and foliage alike. Our last location had a great view of the sunset, where I photographed until the last of that really nice light was gone.

Smudgy never gave the camera the same look twice. A dream for me!

Megan has a special understanding of the bond between people and their animal companions. She’s a licensed pet loss therapist. It can be very hard for people without a support system that understands that bond to go through the grieving process. Megan can also offer support to those seeking to understand their grief. If you’re interested in speaking with her, visit her website at www.petlossvt.com. She and Jason are incredibly kind and patient.

Peace and Furballs,

~Kelly
